Watch Crunchyroll together, for simulcast nights

Anime is a genre people watch on a schedule — a simulcast drops and everyone wants to see it at once. FlickTandem keeps a group on the same frame for episode night, with reactions and video chat beside the player.

What to expect

Ad breaks on Crunchyroll

The free Crunchyroll tier is ad-supported; a paid membership removes ads and makes sync considerably smoother. Mixed parties, where some are free and some paid, will drift at every break.

  • A party can run through a whole season — the room stays open between episodes while the host is present.
  • Subtitle timing is part of the video stream, so subtitles stay in sync automatically.

How Crunchyroll behaves under sync

Crunchyroll keeps the episode id at the front of the /watch/ path, ahead of the series slug, so FlickTandem matches on the id — a party stays intact whether someone opened the episode from the series page or from a direct link.

How it works

Three steps, about thirty seconds

  1. 1

    Add the extension

Free, and it only acts on the streaming sites it supports. Pin it so join requests are one click away.

  2. 2

Open Crunchyroll and start a party

Play whatever you're watching, then start a party from the FlickTandem popup and share the link.

  3. 3

    Approve your friends

Each guest waits until you let them in — or set a room password and skip the approving.

Questions

Crunchyroll watch parties

Can we watch a simulcast together the moment it drops?

Yes — start a party on the episode and share the link. Everyone still needs their own Crunchyroll account, and whoever gets there first can hold the party paused until the rest arrive.

What if some of us are on the free tier?

Free accounts see ads and paid accounts don't, so the party will drift apart at every break. It still works, but a group where everyone has the same tier will have a much better time.
