What to expect
Ad breaks on Netflix
On the standard and premium plans there are no ad breaks, so sync stays tight for a whole film. On the ad-supported plan expect to nudge the position once after a break, since everyone gets different ads.
- Start a party from any title you already have open — sync begins from wherever you are.
- Whoever plays, pauses or seeks moves everybody, so nobody has to count down.
How Netflix behaves under sync
Netflix doesn't mark ad breaks anywhere we can see them, so on the ad-supported plan FlickTandem can't pause syncing automatically the way it does on YouTube — one nudge after the break puts everyone back together. Netflix also rolls straight into the next episode on its own, and because that's a real navigation FlickTandem follows it and moves the party with you.

Does this work with the Netflix ad-supported plan?
It does, but ad breaks are per-viewer: your ads and your friend's ads differ in length, so you'll drift apart during a break. FlickTandem pauses syncing while an ad is detected rather than dragging you to the wrong place, and one seek afterwards puts everyone back together.
Can we watch on a shared Netflix plan?
Yes — each person should use their own profile on that plan. Netflix limits how many streams run at once depending on your plan, and that limit still applies.
